"Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in You"
for I have put my trust in You"
Psalm 143:8
I have learned a lot recently--mostly I've learned that my instincts were all wrong. In committing myself to follow God and not having any avenues with which to really measure any progress, I've come across solutions I'd never seen before. His words are sweeter than anything else my body asks for, the food cravings begin to go away once the body understands that it is under a new reign of command.
"Flee the devil and he will flee from you"--I used to hear this a lot at my house. But I never made the connection between that and---"Return to Me, and I will return to You" James 4:8.
Decisions are about taking conscious steps in the right directions--and if we dig deep enough to find our heart's true desire, we find that there is nothing here on earth that could ever compare to the dreams God has placed in us.
"But for real proof you must look at your own longings and aspirations; you must listen to the deep themes of your own life story." -Gerald May
There is desire that runs deeper than the flesh, deeper than our sinful nature---there is desire that takes us straight home to God. We have been so afraid to dig into desire for fear that it would lead us to sin that we have killed the part of our desire that is yelling and screaming at us behind the bars of our hearts---"LET ME GO HOME!" And all the while, we have been dying inside.
There is nothing like letting your heart run free in search of God.
"When He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth." John 16:13
In the past, this is where I would usually begin to be scared. I'd be scared because I know that when I get comfortable, I falter, and then I begin to roll down a long, steep hill. But this time, I am not scared.
"I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart.
And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give.
So don't be troubled or afraid." John 14:27
I have made a year-long commitment. No matter the results. All that matters is that I'm learning, I'm doing something I've never done before, and there's nothing more that I can really ask of life than to let me experience adventure, challenges, and a relationship with the Most High.
